Andrew Cleveland is a costume designer and costume maker born in present-day City of Mississauga. He has a B.F.A. in theatre from York University, and graduated with specialized honours in 2013.
As a costumer, Cleveland’s Broadway debut was in the Tony Award winning musical Come From Away. He worked on The Lion King World Tour, in Shanghai, and the premier of Disney’s Aladdin in the West End and in Sydney. He last appeared in The Inheritance Part 1 in Toronto with Canadian Stage, and worked as a dresser for for the National Tours of Alvin and the Chipmunks: LIVE, Cameron Macintosh’s Mary Poppins, Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, and Sam Mendes’ Cabaret.
Andrew worked for Opéra Atelier for four years working on productions at the Elgin Theatre and l’Opéra Royal de Versailles, and had a part with working on the opening ceremonies of the 2015 PanAm Games. With Mirvish he worked on Kinky Boots and Mrs. Henderson Presents and has designed for The Toronto Fringe Festival, Talk is Free Theatre, Hart House Theatre, The Royal Conservatory, Theatre Orangeville, and Theatre Orangeville’s Drama, and Musical Young Company.
Andrew is the recipient of two Arts and Culture awards for Student Artist and Emerging Artist of the Year from his home town of Orangeville, ON, a collective THEA Award from the Association of Community Theatres-Central Ontario, and three Broadwayworld Toronto Awards. Additionally, Andrew’s work was featured in the 2011 and 2015 Prague Quadrennial in the Czech Republic. Andrew is a proud donor to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
